Summoning Rates & Probability Table

Every summon in Anime Overload costs 50 Crystal Shards. When you pull, the game rolls against the following probability table to determine what rarity you receive. Understanding these numbers is the foundation of any good summoning strategy — and the reason why evolution is almost always a better path to Secret-tier units than raw summoning.

Rarity Drop Rate Pity Threshold Crystals to Pity Avg. Pulls to Hit
Secret 0.008% 8,000 400,000 ~12,500
Mythic 0.5% 150 7,500 ~200
Legendary 3% 50 2,500 ~33
Epic 20% None ~5
Rare 76.492% None ~1.3

Rates verified against in-game pull data as of March 2026. All five rarities sum to 100%. Use our Summon Calculator to simulate your own odds.

Pity System Explained

The pity system is Anime Overload's safety net. It guarantees that even the unluckiest player will eventually receive a high-rarity unit after a fixed number of summons. Here is exactly how it works under the hood:

How Pity Counting Works

Every time you summon and do not receive a unit of a given rarity tier, a hidden counter for that tier increments by 1. Each rarity has its own independent counter. When your counter reaches the pity threshold for that rarity, your very next pull is guaranteed to produce a unit of that rarity (or higher).

Pity Reset Rules

The counter resets to zero whenever you obtain a unit of that rarity — whether by hitting hard pity or by getting lucky on a normal roll. For example, if you pull a Mythic unit on your 80th summon (before reaching the 150 pity), your Mythic counter resets to 0. Your Secret counter (which was at 80) remains unchanged since you did not pull a Secret.

Multiple Pity Counters

You have separate pity counters for Secret (8,000), Mythic (150), and Legendary (50). They tick independently. This means in 150 pulls, you are guaranteed at least 1 Mythic and at least 3 Legendaries (50, 100, 150). Epic and Rare do not have pity because their base rates are high enough that you will pull them frequently.

Important: There Is No Soft Pity

Unlike some gacha games, Anime Overload does not have a soft pity system where rates gradually increase as you approach the threshold. Your drop rate remains flat at the listed percentage until you hit hard pity. This makes planning straightforward — either you get lucky, or you hit the guaranteed threshold.

Crystal Cost Breakdown

Knowing exactly how many Crystal Shards each pity threshold costs helps you budget your resources. At 50 crystals per pull, the math is simple but the numbers can be staggering — especially for Secret-tier units.

400,000

Crystals for Secret Pity

8,000 summons

7,500

Crystals for Mythic Pity

150 summons

2,500

Crystals for Legendary Pity

50 summons

To put this in perspective: one Secret pity costs the same as 53 Mythic pities. Since many Mythic units can evolve into Secret-tier forms, the Mythic route is almost always the smarter investment. Check the tier list to see which Mythics have evolution paths before deciding where to spend.

F2P Resource Planning

Anime Overload is generous with Crystal Shards compared to most gacha-style Roblox games, but you still need to plan carefully. Here is a realistic breakdown of daily crystal income for a free-to-play player who plays actively.

Source Crystals / Day Notes
AFK Chamber ~5,000 ~10 hours of AFK farming
Daily Quests ~3,000 Complete all daily missions
Story Mode ~2,000 First-clear & repeat rewards
Events & Codes ~2,000 Varies; check codes page
Total ~12,000 Conservative estimate

Time to Pity (F2P)

~33 days

Secret pity (400k crystals)

<1 day

Mythic pity (7.5k crystals)

<1 day

Legendary pity (2.5k crystals)

The AFK Chamber is your single biggest crystal source. Learn how to maximize it in our Crystal Farming Guide. Running the AFK Chamber overnight while you sleep is the most efficient approach — you wake up with ~5,000 crystals ready to spend.

When to Summon

Timing matters. Summoning at the right moment can multiply the value of your crystals. Here are the key scenarios to watch for.

1

Rate-Up Events

When a specific unit is featured, your chance of getting that unit when you hit the rarity tier is significantly higher. Always prioritize rate-up banners for units you actually want.

2

Close to Pity

If you are 20–30 pulls away from Mythic pity, finish it off even on a standard banner. The guaranteed unit is too valuable to waste by switching banners and resetting your counter.

3

After a Major Update

New updates often come with new redemption codes and bonus crystal events. Wait for the update to drop, redeem all codes, then summon with the boosted resources.

4

When You Need a Specific Role

If your team composition is missing a key role (DPS, Control, Support), target banners that feature units filling that gap rather than summoning randomly.

When NOT to Summon

  • Right before a known update — new banners may be better.
  • On the standard Secret banner with less than 200,000 crystals — you likely will not hit pity.
  • When you have 0 pity built up on a banner that is about to end.
  • On Legendary banners when you already have a full Mythic+ roster.

Pro Tips

💡 Pro Tips

  • Track your pity. The game does not show pity counters in the UI. Keep a manual tally or use our Summon Calculator to track where you stand.
  • Never "one more pull" past your budget. The rates are fixed. If you set a 5,000 crystal budget, stop at 5,000. Emotional summoning is the fastest way to drain your resources.
  • Duplicate Mythics are valuable. Do not despair over pulling a Mythic you already have — duplicates feed into the Prestige system for permanent stat boosts.
  • Combine summoning with evolution planning. Before pulling, check which Mythics can evolve to Secret in our Evolution Guide. Target those Mythics specifically.
  • Reroll traits after summoning. Every new summon gets a random trait. Do not invest resources into a unit until you have rerolled for an optimal trait.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the summoning rates in Anime Overload?

The rates are: Secret 0.008%, Mythic 0.5%, Legendary 3%, Epic 20%, and Rare 76.492%. Each summon costs 50 Crystal Shards.

How does the pity system work?

Every summon that does not yield the guaranteed rarity tier increments a hidden pity counter by 1. Once you reach the pity threshold (e.g., 8,000 for Secret, 150 for Mythic, 50 for Legendary), your next pull is guaranteed to be that rarity. The counter resets when you obtain that rarity, whether through pity or luck.

How many crystals do I need for a guaranteed Secret unit?

You need 400,000 Crystal Shards for a guaranteed Secret unit at hard pity (8,000 summons x 50 crystals each). However, with the 0.008% base rate you will statistically hit one earlier — roughly every 12,500 pulls on average.

Is it better to summon for Mythic or Secret units?

For most players, especially F2P, targeting Mythic units is far more efficient. Mythic pity is only 150 pulls (7,500 crystals) versus 8,000 pulls (400,000 crystals) for Secret. Many Mythic units can also evolve into Secret-tier forms.

How many crystals can I earn per day as F2P?

A dedicated F2P player can earn roughly 12,000 Crystal Shards per day through AFK Chamber (approximately 5,000 per 10-hour session), daily quests, story mode rewards, and event missions.

Should I save crystals or summon immediately?

Save for rate-up banners featuring units you need. Summoning on rate-up banners increases your chance of getting the featured unit when you do hit the rarity threshold. Only spend on the standard banner if you need any unit of a given rarity.

Does the pity counter carry over between banners?

Pity counters are specific to each banner type. Your standard banner pity does not transfer to a limited banner. Always check the banner details to understand which pity counter applies.

What is the most efficient way to use my crystals?

Focus on Mythic pity (7,500 crystals) to build your roster, then evolve those Mythics into Secret-tier units. This path costs a fraction of trying to summon Secrets directly (400,000 crystals). See our evolution guide for the full list of Mythic-to-Secret evolution paths.
